Karl's "Six Keys to Success" include; Teamwork: leadership is the ultimate form of teamwork, "think we, not me"; Courage: the courage to try new things and to be decisive; Dedication, which is hard work, constant learning, and refusing to quit. Mecklenburg will also talk about: Desire: your dreams, your passion and mission, Goal Setting: these are the specific, short term, reasonable steps that aim you toward and take you to your desire; and Honesty and Forgiveness: "you must be honest and forgiving with yourself in order to move forward toward your desire".
Mecklenburg says that success is overcoming obstacles on the way to your dreams. Karl overcame dyslexia to become a published author. He overcame a lisp that had him in elementary school speech therapy to become a professional speaker. When Mecklenburg was a high school junior he played junior varsity football. As a college walk-on, and the 310th pick of the NFL draft, his all-pro NFL career is a testament to his 6 Keys approach.
